Trotting Into a Lawsuit

The plaintiff says she put a deposit down on a horse and took it on a one-week trial to see whether they were a good fit and whether she wanted to buy it. She says the horse threw her off, and she was rushed to the hospital with a fractured vertebra. She says she returned the horse, and the defendant told her he’d refund her money, but he never did. She is suing for a refund. The defendant says he never received a dime from the plaintiff and would never allow his horse to go out on a trial. He argues that someone else at the barn made this deal with the plaintiff. He is countersuing for the cost of retraining his horse and veterinary bills.
