25 April, The most beautiful foal in the world

Spring Arrivals A Day in the Life of Two New Foals. The Life of Moorland Foals Moorland foals are born with an incredible natural resilience. Within just an hour or two of birth, they are usually up on their feet, ready to follow their mothers through the gorse and granite. This quick mobility is essential for survival in the wild. As they grow, you'll often see them: Developing Social Bonds: Foals like Heidi and Wayne stay very close to their mothers initially but soon begin to interact with other youngsters in the herd, playing and learning social hierarchy. Adapting to the Seasons: Born with thick, fluffy coats to protect them from the Atlantic winds, they will eventually shed these for sleeker summer coats as the weather warms. Learning Survival: They mimic their mothers' grazing habits, learning which moorland grasses are best to eat and where to find shelter during storms.
