Gobierno elabora informe sobre uso de vehículos militares para patrullaje

The government is making progress in defining the legal and political framework for incorporating military vehicles into patrols in neighborhoods considered high-risk. This Thursday, President Yamandú Orsi held separate meetings with Defense Minister Sandra Lazo and Interior Minister Carlos Negro. According to VTV Noticias, these meetings resulted in a decision to prepare a report outlining different implementation scenarios, which will be presented to the Council of Ministers this Friday. The document will evaluate operational alternatives and the necessary legal framework for deployment. In this context, the Executive Branch is not ruling out the use of other types of military vehicles. This comes after a warning from the United States government regarding the use of Mamba MK7s, units donated to Uruguay on the condition that they be used exclusively in peacekeeping missions.
