Psalm 32, Forgiveness, and the Blessedness of Grace

What happens after you confess your sin, but guilt still refuses to let you go? Psalm 32 describes the misery of concealed sin, the freedom of honest confession, and the blessedness of being forgiven. David shows us the difference between hiding sin from God and finding our hiding place in God. This message also connects Psalm 32 with Romans 4, where Paul explains that God justifies the ungodly and imputes righteousness apart from works. Forgiveness is not God pretending that sin does not matter. Jesus Christ bore the guilt of His people, and His righteousness is counted to everyone who believes. We also consider the difference between consequences and condemnation, repeated sin and repeated accusation, true guilt and false guilt, fatherly discipline, damaged assurance, and the struggle to receive comfort after repentance.
