Genital warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). Most often, there is not just one type, but two or three, and sometimes up to seven types are found. This virus has two characteristics: — Most types are oncogenic, and if they remain in the body for a long time, they increase the risk of cancer. — As a rule, viruses are localized in the superficial layer of the skin – the epidermis. Any intervention to combat HPV by the immune system must be carefully prescribed; each case is individual. Isoprinosine is an immunomodulator, but immunomodulators are not always indicated for HPV. A young man diagnosed with HPV by physical examination presented to the clinic. At the local skin and venereal disease clinic, his condylomas were removed with liquid nitrogen and he was prescribed oral Isoprinosine. Afterward, the number of condylomas increased significantly compared to before treatment. At the clinic, the patient underwent the following tests: — tests for all HPV types (types 16 and 33 were detected); — blood tests for immunogram and interferon status. The results showed decreased interferon levels and changes that prohibit the use of an immunomodulator. Isoprinosine primarily affects T-cell immunity and macrophage secretion. If the immunoregulatory index is decreased, as in the patient's case, the immunomodulator Isoprinosine is contraindicated. At the clinic, the patient was prescribed: Immunoregulatory index stimulation (intravenous ozone and interferon, as well as oral methyluracil, i.e., drugs that do not directly affect cells). Cavitation treatment with Panavir using the Fotek ultrasound device (locally applied three times a week). Photodynamic therapy of the groin, penis, pubis, and scrotum before papilloma removal using the Revixan device (twice with Radagel at weekly intervals). The condylomas stopped growing after these treatments. Removal of genital warts. Vaccination with Gardasil, which stimulates antibody production. Caution!
