Mount Underwood (V71498) operational update, August 15
Crews continue to make progress on the Mount Underwood wildfire (V71989), burning about eight kilometres south of Port Alberni. Since 3 p.m. yesterday (Thursday, August 14), the area has received 28.4 millimetres of rain, leading to minimal fire growth over the past 24 hours. Operations Chief Kiah Allen provides the latest on suppression efforts and Fire Behaviour Analyst Ben Boghean explains how the rainfall has reduced fire activity.
