The devotional prayer of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy was given to Saint Faustina Kowalska by Jesus Himself in her visions and dreams. In her diary, she expressly recorded Jesus' request regarding the ideal time to pray this Chaplet. It was requested to be at 3:00 p.m. because it is the exact hour when Jesus breathed His last on the Cross before dying to save us. What is the Chaplet of Divine Mercy? The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is a Catholic devotion that focuses on the mercy of God, revealed through Jesus Christ. This prayer was given to Saint Faustina Kowalska in the 1930s and is prayed using a rosary. How is it prayed? It begins with the Our Father, the Hail Mary, and the Apostles' Creed. Then, on the large beads, one prays: “Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.” On the small beads, one says: “For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.” The chaplet concludes with the repetition, three times, of the prayer: “Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.” This practice is especially recommended at 3 p.m., the Hour of Mercy, and seeks to foster trust in God's infinite compassion and love.
