And an integrated 500-watt lithium-ion battery. 36 volts and 14 amp-hours. That's 36 x 14 = 504 watt-hours. To recharge it, you can either charge it with the included power cord and transformer by plugging the bike directly into a wall outlet. Or you can unlock the battery with a key; there's a lock here. You turn the key, then press it. And you can remove the battery from its compartment to recharge it in your living room. Best of all, you can carry a second battery in a backpack. The SHIMANO STEPS system offers three assistance modes: Eco, Trail, and Boost, plus an additional "Walk" mode, in which the bike moves forward on its own! Yes, really! If you push the mountain bike uphill or over rocks, for example, the bike will travel by itself at 6 kilometers per hour. Now let's talk about the battery. SHIMANO claims a range of 100 kilometers. Well, it all depends on the assistance mode you choose! All the details are on the shimano-steps.com website, where SHIMANO advertises a 100-kilometer range in Eco mode and 800 meters of elevation gain. To start, you turn on the battery with the button located under the mountain bike. It's right here; I'll show you a close-up. But be careful, only turn it on when the mountain bike is completely stopped. Then, the SHIMANO LCD screen displays the selected assistance mode and the current speed of the mountain bike. Each mode is displayed with a different color: Eco in light blue, Trail in green, and Boost in yellow. The Walk mode is dark blue. To access this mode, you must be stopped and press and hold the lever underneath. Like this. Finally, the LCD screen displays the battery charge level with a 5-bar graph. The SHIMANO FIREBOLT shifter for changing modes is located on the left handlebar. There are no shifters for the chainrings on this mountain bike because it has a single chainring setup. The Shimano Steps motor is truly ultra-compact, and the weight of this SHIMANO STEPS E8000 motor is much lighter than other e-bike motors. With this small motor, the integration is really well done! What you immediately notice is the reduced size of this Shimano Steps motor. Now let's talk about the geometry of the aluminum frame of this full-suspension mountain bike. The 67-degree head angle is quite slack, making the mountain bike rather stable. The chainstays, also known as the rear stays, are 448 mm long, making them slightly longer and further enhancing the bike's stability. For the suspension, SCOTT offers a FOX setup, featuring a 130mm travel FOX 34 E-BIKE fork for e-bikes in the BOOST format and a 120mm travel FOX NUDE EVOLUTION shock. SCOTT has developed and offers its TWINLOC system here. A handlebar-mounted remote allows you to simultaneously lock out both the fork and the shock. On this version of the E-SPARK, SCOTT offers a cable-operated dropper seatpost: the FOX Transfer, with a remote on the handlebar, of course. The remote is located on the right side of the handlebar. Now let's talk about the drivetrain of this mountain bike: it's a full Shimano XT 1x drivetrain, as found on all e-bikes. This bike features a 34-tooth Shimano chainring and an 11-speed 11-46 tooth cassette. Regarding braking, SCOTT equips this e-bike with Shimano XT M8000 brakes and two 203mm diameter rotors.
