Cleft sentences are complex sentences that are used to emphasize the particular part of a sentence . We use as a complement the particular part of the sentence that we want to emphasize . and this is the main point of a cleft sentence . The most common cleft sentence is the it-cleft sentence . Wh-cleft sentences are called pseudo-cleft or semi-cleft . We can't emphasize verb and subject complement using it-cleft but they can be emphasized with wh-cleft .
