It has about 34 thousand inhabitants. Known for its rich history of silver and lead mining, especially in the Middle Ages. The city is home to Rabsztyn Castle, the Basilica of St. Andrew and a mining museum. Olkusz is also an important industrial and trade center in the region. The city itself is currently undergoing quite significant changes. The market square is undergoing a thorough renovation. I had no idea about it before and I literally came across it on... the second day of renovation. I was a bit unlucky :) The city itself may not be spectacular, but it's definitely worth a visit.
