Woodturn and Microwave Dry Rough Bowl

http://www.AsWoodTurns.com For Woodturning this bowl, I'm starting with Apricot harvested recently. The wood blank is still very green or wet. I will microwave this bowl to see if the microwave will speed up the process and profit some "instant gratification". Alas, no luck with this wood turning project. Microwave drying even at 20% power produced disappointing checks and cracks in the bowl blank. To add insult to injury, the microwave only reduced moisture content by about 11%. There's too much moisture left to risk finish turning this bowl. So, I'll relegate it to the paper sack and let it season as I should have in the first place. I'll finish it in a couple of months and see what can be salvaged. Patience does have its place when working with green wood.
