🌱 Afternoon Descending Mercy - Śrī Guru: The Cooling Cloud of Kṛṣṇa’s Mercy and Prasāda - Jul 6 2026 One day we will truly realize that Śrī Guru is our eternal well-wisher and our dearest friend because he connects us with our eternal Friend—Śrī Kṛṣṇa, who is our destination, shelter, and refuge. Sadhu-Guru is like a raincloud, pouring the cooling showers of Kṛṣṇa’s mercy into our dry hearts. He is always lovingly engaged in the service of Bhagavān—in chanting the Holy Name, worshiping the Lord, cooking varieties of offerings for Śrī Vigraha, offering everything to Kṛṣṇa, and then distributing that mercy to all the jīvas. This is the descending process of mercy. From taste for the Holy Name (nāma-ruci) comes realization of Bhagavān. Just as food must first be offered to Bhagavān before it becomes prasāda to distribute, our service must first be offered to Kṛṣṇa. It is not that we distribute first and offer later. Everything is first offered to Bhagavān, and then it naturally flows to everyone as His mercy. Similarly, our heart must first develop attachment to the Holy Name. Then we begin to see Bhagavān everywhere. Great love awakens for the Lord who is present in all beings. Then our thoughts become an offering to Bhagavān, our words become an offering to Bhagavān, and our actions become an offering to Bhagavān. If we focus only on distribution without first offering everything to Kṛṣṇa, it may remain within the mode of goodness. Compassion is wonderful, but the root must first be nourished. Just as watering the root nourishes the whole tree, offering everything first to Bhagavān allows His mercy to flow to everyone. Sadhu-Guru is always immersed in the eternal service of Śrī Śrī Rādhā-Mādhava. He constantly relishes Their holy names, forms, qualities, and pastimes. That is Guru’s world—his eternal reality, his spiritual home. Because Śrī Guru is dear to Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī, he comes as Kṛṣṇa’s mercy personified to deliver each one of us. He gives us sambandha with Kṛṣṇa, engages us in Kṛṣṇa’s loving service, awakens remembrance of Kṛṣṇa, and gradually leads us back to Kṛṣṇa-loka. Thus, all the mercy of Bhagavān reaches us through the mercy of Śrī Guru. As sung in Śrī Gurvaṣṭakam: “Yasya prasādād bhagavat-prasādo, yasyāprasādān na gatiḥ kuto ’pi.” “By the mercy of the spiritual master one receives the mercy of Bhagavān; without his mercy, there is no progress.” Therefore, this remembrance should not be limited to three times a day. At every moment, we should remember: “Everything I have is Śrī Guru’s prasāda. Everything I have received is the causeless mercy of Bhagavān flowing through Śrī Guru.” If we forget this, we begin searching elsewhere, complaining, and feeling that something is lacking. But when we remember Guru’s mercy, we realize: “I have already been given everything. Kṛṣṇa has been given to me. Every moment is prasāda.” 🙏🙏
