Endemol was founded in the Netherlands by Joop van den Ende and John de Mol through a merger of their production companies "Joop van den Ende TV-Producties" and "John de Mol Produkties". On 1st January 2015, Endemol merged with Shine Group to form the Endemol Shine Group. As of 2021, Endemol still survives in Portugal, the last country to still use the Endemol name and logo.
