The Republic of Moldova is going through an extremely complicated period in terms of security. The war in Ukraine, tensions in the Transnistrian region, hybrid attacks and internal vulnerabilities are putting increasing pressure on state institutions. Recently, Vladimir Putin signed a decree that simplifies the granting of Russian citizenship to residents of the left bank of the Dniester, a decision that Chisinau described as a provocation and a blow to the sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova. In parallel, the head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, is talking about including the withdrawal of Russian troops from Transnistria on the agenda of possible peace negotiations with Moscow. At the same time, the authorities are also trying to respond to a growing wave of hybrid attacks and online scams that use the image of state institutions. We are discussing all these challenges and how prepared the Republic of Moldova is for new security risks this evening with the chairwoman of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defense and Public Order, Lilian Carp.
