Galdhopiggen 2469 mnpm⛰️ najwyższa góra Skandynawii KORONA EUROPY
Galdhopiggen (2469 m above sea level) – the highest peak in Norway, the Scandinavian Mountains, and the Scandinavian Peninsula. Located near the town of Lom, in the Jotunheimen mountain range, within a national park, the peak is part of the Crown of Europe. The most popular routes to the summit lead from the Juvasshytta and Spiterstulen mountain huts. We summited Galdhopiggen on July 14, 2024. The day before, we drove to the Spiterstulen mountain hut via a private toll road. At the hut, we paid for parking and a tent site, which we set up in a designated area on the other side of the river. The hut also offers indoor accommodation, a restaurant, and showers (paid by card). That evening, we packed our backpacks and went to bed at 10:00 PM. Early in the morning, at 4:00 AM, we woke up, had breakfast, and set off. The weather forecast wasn't promising, with rain forecast from 11:00 AM until evening. The trail to the summit is about 6 km long and marked with a red "T" sign. The hut is located at 1,104 meters above sea level, so we had to overcome over 1,360 meters of elevation gain. Initially, the trail was steeply uphill, so we quickly gained altitude. From a visible and well-trodden path, we entered rocky terrain, where we navigated shifting rocks. We reached the first snowfield, of which we conquered several that day. The trail passes two other peaks: Svellnose (2,272 meters) and Keilhaustopp (2,355 meters), which we quickly conquered, facing the final ascent to Galdhopiggen. We strapped on crampons and set off through the snow. Towards the end of the ascent, we pass the Knut Voleshytte stone shelter, which houses a bar. A short distance beyond the shelter, we reach Norway's highest point, Galdhopiggen, at 2,469 meters above sea level. At the summit, in addition to the shelter, there's a target that allows you to locate the surrounding peaks. As usual, we take a photo and head to the shelter for a cup of hot tea. With good visibility, you can admire beautiful views from the shelter's windows, but we weren't so lucky. We warmed up with tea, enjoyed some snacks, and set off down. Rain caught up with us towards the end of the descent. After reaching the parking lot, we threw our backpacks into the car, showered, and then headed back to the shelter for a cup of coffee. The trail to Norway's highest mountain isn't technically challenging; you simply have to keep going uphill. The ascent took us less than 4 hours and the descent 2 hours 45 minutes. 🔸️ I INVITE YOU to subscribe to my YouTube channel ➡️OUT OF HOME👇 for videos on conquering the Crown of Europe, Alpine 4,000-meter peaks, the Tatra Mountains, and travels. https://youtube.com/@pozadomem5986?si... 🔸️ I also INVITE YOU to follow me on Instagram👇 👉 / wioletta0912 👉 / poza_domem_ 🔸️TikTok👇 https://www.tiktok.com/@karolkocinski...
