Arambai Tenggol Thang Ta Academy, Khurai Angom Leikai, led by Longjam Sumit Meetei (Senior Instructor), presented a spectacular Thang Ta performance during Lainingthou Puthiba Kumja Haraoba 2026, held at Puthiba Leikai, Imphal East, Manipur. Thang Ta is the traditional martial art of the Meitei people of Manipur. The name combines "Thang" (Sword) and "Ta" (Spear), representing an ancient combat system that has evolved into a remarkable cultural performance. This performance features synchronized sword and spear techniques, shield movements, acrobatic footwork, theatrical combat, and ritual sequences performed to the rhythm of traditional drums. Once practiced by Meitei warriors for defense, Thang Ta remains one of Manipur's most treasured martial traditions and continues to be showcased at cultural festivals and heritage events.
