How to Conduct IEC 60601-1 Edition 3.2 Clause 9.4 Instability Testing
In this video, Nigel Syrotuck, a Mechanical Engineering Team lead with Starfish Medical, shows how to conduct instability tests required by IEC 60601-1 Edition 3.2 Clause 9.4 for all types of Medical Electrical Equipment that rest on the floor, except for fixed equipment. Nigel breaks these tests up into an order that makes the most sense to reduce the number of setups for testing, but out of order from the standard. Typically, these tests will be performed by a third party certification laboratory, but for confidence you might want to do them yourself first. All tests in this video are relatively easy to perform for confidence well ahead of 60601-1 third-party testing. You might not need to do all these tests, depending on your device's weight and mobility classification. If you're unsure of your device's mobility classification, see the link in the description below. This video is part of a series on how to perform IEC 60601-1 Edition 3.2 tests required for all types of Medical Electrical Equipment.
