Interventional Oncology – New in 2023 Dr. Grzegorz Rosiak, MD, PhD, 2nd Department of Radiology, Medical University of Warsaw Interventional radiology is an important diagnostic and treatment method in oncology. It includes procedures such as thermoablation and cryoablation of tumors, embolization, and – for pain management – ​​cryoneurolysis. Interventional radiology procedures are becoming increasingly popular because they are effective, minimally invasive, and cause fewer complications than other treatment methods. In Poland, thanks to new pricing for thermoablation of liver and kidney tumors, these procedures are being performed more frequently. Cryoablation of kidney tumors has recently been included in the benefits package. However, there is a lack of access to procedures involving the lungs, bones, and adrenal glands.
