Working with the Regulator with Jaedon Green
Working with the Regulator Jaedon Green presented on the topic of 'Working with the Regulator' at our May Dynamic Boards NED Community meetup. Jaedon is a member of our NED Community and is well-equipped for today's topic, with nearly 40 years of experience working in regulated industries. He has over 35 years in an executive capacity: he was Chief Customer Officer at Leeds Building Society and was routinely consulted by the Government, developers, trade bodies and the Bank of England as an independent subject matter expert. And approaching 10 years in a non-executive capacity: he has NED experience with Ecology Building Society, Community Housing Group Ltd, Castles & Coasts Housing Association Ltd, and is an Independent Member of the Audit & Risk Committee at Yorkshire Housing Ltd. He has worked across multiple regulators: In Financial Services - the Financial Conduct Authority, the Prudential Regulatory Authority And more broadly - the Care Quality Commission, Charity Commission and Social Housing Regulator There are over 100 regulators in the UK. From ofsted, to the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, to Drinking Water Quality Regulator for Scotland! Whether your board feeds very directly into a regulator (as Jaedon's have) or whether it serves customers who are in regulated markets, regulation is a key part of UK organisational governance. We know Jaedon's experience will be applicable to many of these other regulators and are grateful for the chance to help us think through how we approach regulators well as Non-Executive Directors, Chairs and Trustees. We followed the discussion with breakout sessions to allow members to discuss and debate three questions: 1) How do we drive things forward, without fearing what regulators and lawyers might think of our decisions with the benefit of hindsight? 2) What is an acceptable level of social media presence for NEDs? 3) NED CPD: Whose responsibility is it? And how much time should you commit? 🚀 Join our NED Community to hear talks like this and join the breakout discussion: https://dynamicboards.co.uk/non-execu... 🚀 Dynamic Boards advertise all the paid Non-Executive Director roles in the UK.
