WMATA Metrorail 1973-1976 Rohr 1000 Series Railcar #1243

Here a walk through/ride on an WMATA Metrorail 1000 Series Railcar on the Yellow Line Rush + on Monday. Recorded from Franconica Springfield to Van Dorn St station. Have to get all my videos and pictures of these while I still have a chance before they are retired. 300 out of 748 7000 Series Railcars will replaced the 1000 Series Railcars. WMATA goal is to retired all 1000 Series Railcars by December 2017. So enjoy your ride on them while you still can as WMATA first ever railcars are in the process of retiring. It sad that there no plans to preserve one pair of 1000 Series Railcars as it Washington DC first ever subway cars. Also if you want to find railcars #1000-1001 there on the Green Line now. 7k Order 128 use for Silver Line Phase 1 & 2 300 to replace 1k cars in 2016-2017 100 to replace 4k cars in 2016-2017 192 to replace 5k cars in 2019-2020 The last 28 7k cars will be use for the Red line to eliminate the turn back between Silver Spring and Grosvenor stations on rush hour Total of 748 Update: As of 11/17/16 all 4000 series railcars are being put into the middle of train due to safety concerns http://www.wmata.com/rider_tools/metr...
