Episode 1254 Minnie (Margot Bryant) prepares the community centre flat for Ena’s (Violet Carson) return. Maggie (Irene Sutcliffe) tells Alf (Bryan Mosley) she’s worried being mayoress might get in the way of running the corner shop. A reporter Clive Shawcross (Colin Rix) visits the Rovers to gather information on Jacko’s (Robert Keegan) wrongful arrest. Shawcross interviews Jacko, who’s upset when he realises he won’t be paid for the story. Minnie is shocked when she comes across an old letter. Ena returns home to find Minnie giving her the cold shoulder. Maggie tells Alf that Annie (Doris Speed) has convinced herself that he wants her as mayoress. Norma (Diana Davies) asks Len (Peter Adamson) to find Jacko a job. Rita (Barbara Knox) agrees to go to the pictures with Ray (Neville Buswell), annoying Len when Elsie (Pat Phoenix) lets him know.
