It is the first spin-off installment in the popular Splatoon series for the Nintendo Switch 2. Unlike the team-based multiplayer battles of the main series, this title focuses on a story-driven single-player adventure. The campaign can also be played with friends or, for a limited time, with random players from around the world. Splatoon Raiders is a third-person shooter developed by Nintendo and will be released on July 23, 2026. The adventure begins with a crash landing: After a violent storm, the protagonist, a mechanic, is stranded on the tropical Spiralite Islands along with three members of the Surimi Syndicate. This archipelago has recently risen to the surface due to tectonic shifts and harbors abandoned ruins and valuable treasures guarded by aggressive Salmonids. A makeshift hideout ship serves as the base of operations, from which expeditions are launched. The gameplay is based on a dynamic expedition structure. During raids, players explore diverse biomes—from mist-shrouded hills and volcanic areas to densely overgrown beaches—utilizing a mobile exploration robot and platforming mechanics. The arsenal includes more than 100 different colored weapons, which can be looted directly from defeated Salmonids. These weapons have individual levels that increase combat power and can be adjusted or swapped out in the hideout ship. In addition to tools and Spirhalite Shards, collected relics serve to permanently upgrade equipment and mechanical gadgets. A significant new feature is the so-called Seasoned Salmonids, a particularly dangerous mutation of familiar enemies. These appear with enhanced armor and powerful special attacks, such as the Minced Scrapper with its rolling attacks, the Thick-Cut Salty Tongue with its devastating energy beams, or the Big-Stack Stinger, which deploys multiple targeting lasers simultaneously.
