Energy Center Tucson
Cordia Tucson’s plant is located in the heart of downtown Tucson, where it serves six buildings, including the Tucson Convention Center, Midtown Police Station, and the Tucson Fire Department headquarters. The plant has been running for over half a century, beginning operations in 1968. The City of Tucson’s original district energy system was a heating and cooling plant that served municipal buildings via two heating and cooling loops. The system has since expanded to four loops serving 922,000 square feet of building space. The heating and cooling plant’s equipment includes three centrifugal chillers and five boilers, as well as a combined heat and power (CHP) system. CHP capabilities were added in 2004 to serve base heat and thermal loads for the network’s customers.
