My buddy bought these insects secretly so we wouldn't find out, and along with them came a thin manga called "Eating Insects for the First Time: Explained Through Manga." (It felt like one of those cheap mangas that come with Shinken Zemi recruitment pitches.) The story was about an office lady who's exhausted from an unhealthy diet, and a senior office lady recommends the "insect diet." One exchange in the manga really caught my attention: "Why are insects bad?" "I see, maybe I've just been avoiding them because of my preconceived notions..." Come to think of it, why don't humans eat insects? Even though we spend a year growing plants and lovingly raising cows and pigs, we kill and eat them. Is this what they call preconceived notions?
