Microsoft co-founder Gates speaks at the World Health Summit in Berlin

(16 Oct 2018) STORYLINE: Bill Gates, Microsoft co-founder and now co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, spoke at the World Health Summit in Berlin on Tuesday. While participating in a joint plenary discussing innovation to address global health and its future challenges, Gates told the audience that more leaders are needed in government and science. Other members of the plenary included German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg. Gates briefly commented on the death of his childhood friend and Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen.   Paul G. Allen, who co-founded Microsoft with Gates before becoming a billionaire philanthropist, technology investor and owner of several professional sports teams, died of cancer on Monday in Seattle. He was 65.
