As local residents told EAN, the forest near the village has been being cut down for a long time, but last year loaded timber trucks drove through the central street of Kedrovy in a stream, four to five cars a day. Old-timers say that the cars have broken up the paths, the loggers are destroying the favorite places of mushroom and berry pickers. "I feel sad when I see how huge timber trucks are removing the forest. They cut down a plot - they didn't remove anything, they didn't plant anything, they left the dirt and drove on. "It is impossible to enter the forest, you have to walk seven kilometers, and we are already old," explained the indignation of the village residents, pensioner Lyubov Fedoseyeva. In response to complaints from residents, the village administration arranged a meeting with representatives of the forestry department and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology. At the meeting, officials said that the forest was being cut down by the "Ural Air Base for Forest Protection." According to the director of the Berezovsky forestry department, Alexander Petrov, there is a plan to clear the taiga of diseased trees, and a unit of the air base is carrying out sanitary logging. Local residents did not believe the officials' statements. They took photos and videos of the work of the loggers, and based on what they saw, they claim that in addition to old, diseased trees, healthy trees are also being destroyed. "I know the forest like the back of my hand, I have traveled all around for about 15 kilometers. Now relict groves have been destroyed. What kind of sanitary logging is this? Commercial forest is being cut down, pine trees with a diameter so big that you can't wrap your arms around them. "I was sitting on a stump and crying," Valentina Suntsova, an expert on the surrounding taiga, shares her doubts. The Ural Forest Aviation Protection Base explained to the agency that the organization is not responsible for determining areas for logging. Every year, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Sverdlovsk Region approves a plan for the sanitary cleaning of the forest and sends it to the executors. The Ministry of Natural Resources, in turn, promised to comment on the volume of forest and the area of ​​logging later. The forest in the vicinity of the village has been cut down under lease agreements since 2008. Residents explain the mass indignation at this fact right now by the fact that the logging has led to a change in the ecology around the settlement. Considering that the forest is being destroyed by order of the government, only publicity can influence the situation, old-timers believe. They contacted supervisory authorities, the administration of the urban district, and deputies. "We have drawn up an appeal to the prosecutor's office of the city of Verkhnyaya Pyshma and other authorities with a request to conduct an investigation of this case. It is in our interests to ensure that forests are not cut down in such a barbaric manner,” Verkhnyaya Pyshma Duma deputy Alexander Kakusha told EAN. According to EAN, the environmental prosecutor's office last week requested documents from the Ministry of Natural Resources on the logging, the issue of assessing the damage caused to the forest is being decided, and the police have been involved in the investigation.
