Andal Kauthuvam is based on the life story of Saint Andal, the only female Alvar among the twelve Alvar saints of South India. Known for her unwavering devotion to Lord Vishnu, Sri Andal is often considered an avatar of Maha Lakshmi herself. This song describes her adoption by Periyalvar who found her as a baby lying under the Tulsi plant in the temple garden of Srivilliputhur (in Tamil Nadu), and how she imagined herself as Lord Krishna's bride, wearing the flower garland before it was offered to him.
