Fire fighting - CO2 -Carbon Dioxide- discharge valve over view

When the control system determines that a discharge is necessary, power is sent to the “Master Valve” solenoid to open it. This allows Carbon Dioxide to pass through the solenoid and is routed to the top chamber of the valve via the stainless steel hose connected between the valve and the solenoid. The pressure is transferred to the top piston chamber, and the pressure differential valve opens due to the larger surface area of the top piston versus the main valve seal. When opened, the valve discharges the entire contents of the cylinder into the distribution piping network
