TRIBUN-VIDEO.COM - A video showing a commendable act by a member of the Bogor Police Traffic Unit (Satlantas) rejecting a bribery attempt from a motorcyclist has gone viral on social media. The driver who attempted to bribe the officer is identified as a content creator. This unique incident was confirmed to have occurred at the Megamendung Intersection, Puncak Route, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Saturday (July 4, 2026). The Bogor Police Traffic Unit officer in the video, First Inspector Dulyani, explained that he initially stopped the Yamaha RX-King motorcycle because it was found to be displaying an inappropriate license plate. "Because the motorcycle's license plate (F 47 MI) is a car license plate, not a motorcycle," said First Inspector Dulyani when contacted by Kompas.com on Sunday (July 5, 2026). When first stopped and asked to show his driving documents, the content creator initially claimed he didn't have his driver's license (SIM), vehicle registration certificate (STNK), or ID card (KTP). Seeing this violation, First Inspector Dulyani immediately took decisive action, declaring that the vehicle would be temporarily impounded as evidence. "Sir, I've given you a ticket, and I'm impounding your motorcycle," Dulyani stated firmly in the video. On hearing that his motorcycle would be impounded, the driver panicked and immediately tried to persuade the officer to settle the matter peacefully, or by bribing him. However, Dulyani flatly refused the offer of a settlement. "No way. They said they want a clean police force," Dulyani reminded the driver. Seeing the officer's unwavering resolve, the driver finally relented and produced his driver's license and vehicle registration, which he had initially claimed to have left behind. After a thorough inspection by the officer, further misunderstandings were revealed. The vehicle registration certificate (STNK) for the vintage sports motorcycle had expired in 2022, and its tax had been completely delinquent since 2019. To ensure the motorcycle was not counterfeit, First Inspector Dulyani asked the driver to present the original Motor Vehicle Ownership Certificate (BPKB) to verify the frame number. "The STNK-only phenomenon is rampant now. So the BPKB must be checked, because many frame numbers have been faked," Dulyani explained. After the driver produced the original BPKB and all the data was confirmed to be accurate, the officers returned the motorcycle, driver's license, and BPKB. However, the police still confiscated the STNK as evidence for the ticket. Dulyani explained that he deliberately chose to confiscate the STNK rather than the driver's license. This measure was taken based on an evaluation of tactics in the field, which found that many unscrupulous drivers were cheating when ticketed. "I originally wanted to keep my vehicle registration (STNK). If their driver's license is confiscated, many violators choose to apply for a new one rather than pay the fine, especially if their license is about to expire," he concluded.
