The area around Lake Rożnowskie, Przydonica, Mill Settlement - Visiting Interesting Places by Drone WM | Foxtrott Historic 16th-century Church of Our Lady of the Rosary in Przydonica Historic Józef Winiarski Mill Settlement in Roztoka-Brzeziny Przydonica, with a current population of approximately 1,400, is located in the Nowy Sącz County, in the Gródek nad Dunajcem commune. The first historical mentions of Przydonica date back to the 13th century. At that time, it was a single village with neighboring Podolia and was called "Predanycza." In the 14th century, Przydonica belonged to the Rożnów family, and for a time even to Zawisza Czarny. In the mid-17th century, a cholera plague wiped out almost the entire village. 1683, the year of the Battle of Vienna, was a turning point in Przydonica's history. It was then that King John III Sobieski, returning to Krakow, chose Przydonica as a place to rest. Seeing the deserted village and captivated by the hospitality of its inhabitants, he ordered several of his knights to settle in Przydonica. As he said goodbye, he presented the villagers with a painting of the Virgin Mary and Child, which remains famous to this day for its numerous miracles and crowds of pilgrims. The village's most valuable monument is the wooden church of Our Lady of the Rosary. The church was built around 1527, likely on the site of an older church. Currently, the wooden church does not serve as a parish church. It is occasionally used for worship and is temporarily open to the public.
