Kronotxoriak —“Pájaros del tiempo”, en euskera— es una obra para orquesta de cámara que propone una meditación poética sobre el tiempo a través de la figura del ave. El subtítulo, Denboraren Hegaldi Bat (“Un vuelo del tiempo”), sugiere un recorrido sonoro donde el paso del tiempo no es lineal ni mecánico, sino orgánico, irregular y cambiante, como el vuelo de un pájaro que cruza el cielo sin rumbo fijo. Inspirada en la figura del pájaro como símbolo del tiempo, esta obra orquestal propone una reflexión sonora sobre el vuelo, el viento y el paso fugaz de los instantes. El canto de las aves, sus migraciones y la ligereza de su desplazamiento se convierten aquí en metáforas de lo inasible: del tiempo que avanza, se transforma y se disuelve, la espera, el recuerdo, el instante que se escapa. A lo largo de la obra, la orquesta se despliega como un paisaje en constante cambio. Las maderas agudas evocan el trino de los pájaros, mientras que las cuerdas y los metales construyen atmósferas que sugieren corrientes de aire, cielos abiertos o remansos de calma. El ritmo, en ocasiones libre y en otras fragmentado, refuerza esta sensación de movimiento irregular, natural, como si el tiempo no avanzara en línea recta, sino por espirales o ráfagas. Sin seguir un programa narrativo estricto, Kronotxoriak invita a la escucha contemplativa, al dejarse llevar por la música como quien observa el vuelo de un ave sin saber a dónde va, pero sabiendo que cada giro en el aire es parte de una danza más grande, en la que hay algo atemporal que también nos habita. The subtitle, Denboraren Hegaldi Bat (“A Flight of Time”), suggests a sonic journey in which the passage of time is not linear or mechanical, but organic, irregular, and ever-changing, like the flight of a bird crossing the sky without a fixed destination. Inspired by the bird as a symbol of time, this orchestral work proposes a sonic reflection on flight, wind, and the fleeting passage of moments. The song of birds, their migrations, and the lightness of their movement become metaphors here for the intangible: time that moves forward, transforms, and dissolves; waiting, memory, the instant that slips away. Throughout the work, the orchestra unfolds like a constantly shifting landscape. The high woodwinds evoke birdsong, while the strings and brass create atmospheres that suggest air currents, open skies, or pools of calm. The rhythm, at times free and at others fragmented, reinforces this sense of irregular, natural motion, as if time did not move in a straight line, but in spirals or gusts. Without following a strict narrative program, Kronotxoriak invites contemplative listening, allowing oneself to be carried by the music as one watches the flight of a bird without knowing where it is going, yet sensing that each turn in the air is part of a larger dance—one in which there is something timeless that also dwells within us.
