Altitude Package Testing System

This is an Altitude Package Testing System: Turn-key Vacuum System with Chamber, Vacuum Pump, Vacuum Controller, on a table frame structure with lockable swivel casters. The vacuum chamber is made from crystal clear acrylic and has the internal dimension of 18 inch Wide, 18 inch Deep, and 18 inch High. The chamber also consists of a total of three fully removable and perforated acrylic shelves. On the chamber there are two solenoid valves, (one for venting, one for vacuum), one digital vacuum gauge, and one 1/4 inch NPT Manual venting valve. The chamber is front loading with hinged front door. The Dovetail O-ring groove is precision routed into the lid and will enable great sealing and O-Ring retention (dovetail groove will keep o-ring in place) Below the vacuum chamber is a 6 CFM rotary vane vacuum pump capable of pumping down to 0.02 Torr maximum. However this system is rated to about 0.075 Torr which is about equivalent to 250,000 feet of altitude. The vacuum pump is connected to the vacuum controller and can be turned on or off on the controller (so are the valves). The vacuum controller will enable you to test how specimen will behave when brought to a specific altitude equivalent. Since altitude and absolute pressure can be expressed as a function of one another, the vacuum controller will calculate and convert the vacuum level inside the chamber to the equivalent altitude. A sample test which can be performance is to test whether your product will be able to withstand accidental airplane cargo depressurization at 20,000 ft. To do this, simply place your specimen into the vacuum chamber, pull a vacuum equivalent of 20,000 ft and observe seal or product failures. Another test which can be performed is the ASTM D6653 test which tests the effects of high altitude on packaged products.
