Ironi Papua, Hutan & Gunung Emas

Papua, one of the richest regions in the world in terms of natural resources, holds a stark contrast between its immense wealth and the poverty of its people. Hidden behind lush rainforests, towering mountains, and fast-flowing rivers, lies a seemingly limitless wealth of gold, copper, natural gas, oil, and forests. However, amidst this abundance of natural potential, the Papuan people are often mere spectators of the glittering exploitation that is being carried out. Poverty in Papua is a striking irony, considering that this region is rich in natural resources that should be able to boost the welfare of its people. Papua has abundant reserves of gold, copper, natural gas, oil, and biological wealth. However, for many Papuans, this wealth remains a dream that is far from reality. The poverty index in Papua is still the highest in Indonesia. Many areas in Papua still do not have access to decent education, adequate health services, and basic infrastructure such as roads and electricity. Illiteracy rates and school dropout rates are also high, showing how difficult it is for Papuans to get the opportunity to improve their quality of life.
