Motorcycle journey with my dog: From Hexi Corridor toward XinjiangToday rode from Jiayuguan to the new Yumen City, ending at the apex of a massive alluvial fan on the upper Shule River. Along the way, visited Old Yumen City and Laojun Temple to see the Yumen Oilfield, Wang Jinxi’s memorial, and China’s first oil well. Got invited by villagers to hunt rabbits in the mountains. Took a tumble near Wang Jinxi’s hometown—fell right before Iron Man Village. Stopped at New Yumen City for groceries and water, then rode dozens of kilometers through the desert to gather firewood, cook, and camp.
