Today, we’re going to make the Yeonbong knot, one of the basic traditional knots. You only need three simple tools: knotting cord, an awl, and scissors. The Yeonbong knot gets its name from its resemblance to a lotus bud. It is a knot widely used not only in Korea but across many parts of Asia. In Korea, it is a beautiful knot commonly seen in knot crafts, gyubang crafts, and as decoration for hanbok. If you’re new to knotting, don’t worry! At first, the shape may not come out well and feel a bit confusing, but you can always undo it and try again.
