Tilman Kuban has been at the helm of the joint youth organization of the CDU and CSU since March 2019, succeeding the current CDU General Secretary, Paul Ziemiak. As JU chairman, Tilman is automatically a member of the CDU executive board. In the last European elections, the 32-year-old narrowly missed being elected to the European Parliament in Brussels.
