This Remote Azad Kashmir Village Has Never Had Electricity

Welcome to one of the most remote mountain villages of Azad Kashmir, where people still live without electricity and rely on a simple traditional lifestyle. Most families depend on livestock for their livelihood, raising goats, sheep, and poultry. They collect firewood from the mountains and cook their meals over open wood fires, just as their ancestors did for generations. Life in these mountains is full of challenges. Wild animals often attack their livestock in the forests, causing significant losses for local families. Despite these hardships, the people remain strong, hardworking, and deeply connected to nature. Today, we were warmly welcomed into one of their traditional stone houses, where the family showed incredible hospitality. They prepared a delicious meal for us using food from their own home and livestock. The meat served was from their own goat, raised by the family themselves. This is their way of life—when guests arrive, they honor them with the best food they have, whether it’s home-raised goats, sheep, or chickens. The hospitality, simplicity, and kindness of these mountain people are truly unforgettable.
