But after that, the most critical skill to manage is your position in the water column. And this is where buoyancy control comes into play. Buoyancy control is important because it greatly supports diver safety and significantly reduces effort while diving, allowing divers to float effortlessly in the water column with reliable control of their position. At first, it can be a feat for you to move your body through the water to where you want to go, but an even bigger challenge, especially early in your diving career, is remaining stationary--staying still in one place. Getting your gear and body under control and managing it comfortably will make the whole diving experience much easier and more enjoyable. More control means less effort, lower gas consumption, greater safety, longer bottom times, and much more fun! In this video series, you will learn a variety of techniques for improving your general stability along with refining your buoyancy control. The modules will explore controlling your buoyancy, using your BC effectively, avoiding buoyancy problems, and managing basic equipment failures properly.
