Situation involving RDP houses in Olievenhoutbosch yet to be resolved
Almost a year after Tshwane residents began occupying vacant RDP houses and flats in Olievenhoutbosch, the situation is yet to be resolved. In April last year, residents burned tyres and barricaded roads to protest against attempts to have them evicted. The Gauteng Department of Human Settlements built the flats at a cost of almost R190 billion, but they had hardly been completed when people began claiming apartments for themselves. Director for Service Delivery in the Office of the Human Settlements MEC, Fred Mokoko, elaborates. Tune into Newzroom Afrika, DSTV channel 405 for more details.
