CALIBER PATRIOT CHEROKEE DART In this video, I show the piece-by-piece disassembly of the oil pump in this engine. It's a complex pump due to its controls and balance shafts (which require synchronization or timing) to compensate for engine vibrations. It contains brass parts, bearings, gears, and a hydraulic tensioner chain. This pump is connected to the crankshaft by this chain and also requires synchronization for proper installation. The engine that uses this pump is a 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder, 16-valve engine with double overhead camshafts and VVT-i variable valve timing. This engine is made entirely of aluminum (block and cylinder head), making it very delicate to assemble and maintain.
