Stanton Cross - Roman Settlement Found!

After two years I can finally tell you about the archaeology I filmed at Stanton Cross, Wellingborough back in July 2024. This dig site had the television show "Digging for Britain" attend with great interest but due to laws preventing nighthawks, I wasn't permitted to inform you all. Now the local newspapers have announced it I can now tell you what I spent my summer of 2024 doing. Some of these pics were taken on my birthday. Excavations carried out by Museum of London Archaeology have uncovered yet another Ancient Roman settlement. They have found field systems, enclosures and ditches that include horse paddocks. The most amazing find was a Bronze Age sword mould made out of formed clay for casting bronze. It dates approximately 1,500 years older than Roman finds but within the remains of the town. Archaeologists are investigating how it got there. This artefact and others found on site with eventually be on display at Chester House whilst Stanton Cross tarmac over the settlement and place cardboard boxes on top, complete with solar panels that explode after the first year, or have Super Mario sewage pipes built on your doorstep. Still no shops and NNC still refuse to express their powers 🤔. Priorities are all backwards up here but hey hum, this archaeology is a positive. I best not ruin it now 😆 😅. 📍 Irthlingborough Road South Wellingborough, Northants UK 📷 DJI Mini 2se #Wellingborough #archaeology Here is a link to the BBC report Stanton Cross dig site offers 'window' into Roman life - BBC News https://share.google/QtyU1NRt6U7hvTOeq The first piece of music is "up in smoke" and has been created by Jamie Brady and can be found with this link to his channel    / @jamiebrady
