Elba is made up of many very different ecosystems. Preserving them is therefore quite complicated. One of the ways to take care of them is, in my opinion, to protect and preserve the species that live there. One of the organizations that truly has this mission in its DNA is certainly, among others, Legambiente. Legambiente is involved in several ongoing projects: educational initiatives, environmental clean-up activities — because, let’s be honest, human beings can sometimes behave like real pigs — and projects aimed at protecting the species that inhabit Elba. One of these projects — I don’t know if it’s the most important, but it is certainly among the most important — focuses on the care and protection of Caretta caretta sea turtles. So when they invited me to take part in the initiative, despite having a few doubts, mostly connected to the time of day when the activity takes place, I decided to join in. It is definitely demanding work, and they really need everyone’s help, even if only for a single day. Sea turtles can be considered an indicator of the health of the sea. Helping and protecting their survival could mean leaving a better environment to our children.
