Organised by the Drepung Loseling Tulku Association, in the morning of 28 December 2022, the Loseling tulkus visited the pilgrimage site of Kukkutapada (Gurpa) Mountain, prayed and Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche kindly gave a guidance commentary of the site. Gurpa Parbat GURPA HILL) : This pilgrimage is located east of Bodhgaya. 50km from Bodhgaya. The height of this mountain is 5 km above the sea level. Taiwanese donor's grace has made a pedestrian walkway with approximately 68 stairs sloping as it is very wet. From Samthar land to reach the peak of the mountain, about 3-4. It takes 2 hours. Reaching the top of this mountain is a narrow dark route with a stone slipped in the middle. It is said that this stone was crushed by a stick by Maha Kashyap. This very narrow route length is about 5 meters. Even though it looks very narrow, a fat person can pass from there surprisingly easily. This pilgrimage special is related to Lord Buddha, Bodhisattva Mahakashyap and Asang. (1) This is the pilgrimage place where Lord Buddha himself recited Manjushree's formula. (4) Bodhisattva Maha Kashyap is the pilgrimage where he has stayed invisible in the hills by promising no Nirvana until Maitreya Buddha lands in human world. According to the second scholars mentioned in the formula: Chaitya has been built on the top of the mountain by keeping the metal and bones of the Bodhisattva Mahakashyap. After the arrival of Maitreya Buddha, Chaitya will be opened and those who visit Maha Kashyap's ashes and bones, when questioning about it, Maitreya buddha will inform everyone about Maha Kashya. Hearing about his practice of religion, it is believed that many people will get respect to enter the religion. This is the pilgrimage where Maitreya Buddha predicts millions of followers to implement religion. Maha Kashyap is the first among the first 10 successors of Saddharma preaching after Lord Buddha's Maha Parinirvana. (4) Bodhisattva Asanga is the pilgrimage where Maitreya Buddha meditated for 5 years. The history of Asang meditating for 5 years is probably the least unknown. He is one of the six prominent teachers of the great tradition. Since it is not possible to mention all his biography in this small page, I have mentioned only 10 incidents that happened to him in the last 5 years. After not having a visit to Maitreya carefully for the first 20 years, when he came out and fell down to the village, an old mother saw a scene of iron stick with cotton in her hand. Asang asked that old mother what she did. That mother replied that she was about to make a sewing clothes. In the curiosity that this is possible, mother said nothing is impossible if she can give will and time. Hearing this, Asanga said that it takes so long for a small worldly work, I returned to the cave and concentrated for 20 years and came out again after 20 years saying that it was not time to visit Buddha. While walking, a drop of water fell from the top of the mountain and a skull fell on the stone. Seeing this scene, a single drop of water caused so much rock holes to him, that I meditated to visit Buddha and returned to meditation by increasing the semen saying that he won't lose. Left again in 3 years after meditating for another 5 years. At that time, when the bird fly along with the bird's nest in the guard's cottage, the stone was seen being smooth. After seeing this scene, such a strong stone was touched by the wings of a small bird, and after returning to meditation that my grave is not yet reached, he came out after not getting the sight of Maitreya even after meditating for 5 years. This time while walking on the road, a scene of a dog screaming due to pain that was half rotten and insects which cannot walk. His heart felt great compassion after seeing this scene. Since the insects die while picking with hands, first the meat of his thigh was cut on the floor and closing his eyes and tongue was about to pick insects with the floor, when the tongue hit the floor, I saw Maitreya Buddha. At this moment he replied to Maitreya Buddha why I haven't seen you even after meditating for 5 years, Maitreya buddha said that I am always with you because of your misery you haven't seen and today I have visited you because you have great compassion in your mind. The main advice that should be learnt by the practitioners of religion from this incident is because Buddha and Bodhisattva does not have discrimination and prejudice to any creature, but the destruction of the suffering of Satva. Asanga's 20 years practice has not caused the distress to be destroyed but it is not completely destruction and in 5 years, it has created great compassion when the tribulation was completely destroyed.
