Thousands of children, Macedonians, Greeks and Vlachs, were evacuated from the areas controlled by the communists. The United Nations Special Committee for the Balkans (UNSCOB) confirms in a report that in the ethnically pure Macedonian villages, the inhabitants were very determined to evacuate the children. Today they are known under the name „Децата Бегалци“. An estimated 28,000 to 32,000 children were evacuated during 1948 and 1949. According to some sources, most of the children sent to the Eastern Block were of Macedonian origin, who spoke their native Macedonian language. Lyrics Каде сте, Македончиња?
