What is LINE BREEDING | Leopard Geckos (Pt.2) Hello Ladies and Gents! In today's video, we are going to discuss LINE BREEDING in leopard geckos! Line breeding, also known as "polygenic" breeding is when you take animals that have similar characteristics and pair them together in hopes to reproduce deeper levels of that desired trait. Examples of this include, Tangerines, Bold Stripes, and Black Nights. We will discuss what aspects separate line breeding from mendelian genetics (the typical genetic breeding) and how to better understand what is going on to best produce the desired look you are going for. Part 1 of this video covers examples of Mendelian genetics vs Polygenetic traits and helps you understand the differences using human genes that we are all familiar with such as eye color, hair color, skin color, and height. Part 2 will show actual examples in our collection of line bred leopard geckos to show you varying levels of inheritance so you can better understand what to expect when line breeding your animals.
