EXCLUSIVE: Ground Report from Ongata Rongai During Maandamano 2026

I drove around several parts of Ongata Rongai, including Cleanshelf, Kware, Exciting, Maasai Mall, and Maasai Lodge, to assess the situation during the June 25 demonstrations. There were no visible protests in the areas I visited. Instead, I observed only small groups of residents gathered in different locations, while approximately 90% of businesses remained closed. Although the streets appeared relatively calm, there was a noticeable sense of tension across the town. Several police officers were deployed in various locations, maintaining a visible security presence.
