QUESTA È LA STAGIONE MIGLIORE PER RAGGIUNGERE IL RIFUGIO PAPA IN GRAVEL

This is the best season to reach Rifugio Papa on gravel. In this video, we pedal and tell you about a bike ride to Rifugio Papa, in the Piccole Dolomiti Vicentine. We start from Montecchio Maggiore. On a flat, asphalt road, we reach Schio and then the hamlet of Poleo. A long 30km climb begins, connecting the upper Vicenza plain to the Porte del Pasubio and leading to Rifugio Papa, first on asphalt to Santa Caterina and Passo Xomo, then on dirt road along the Strada degli Scarubbi. Once we reach Rifugio Gen. Achille Papa, we descend on a dirt road along the Strada degli Eroi to Passo Pian delle Fugazze. We descend on asphalt to Valli del Pasubio, then back to Schio and return to Priabona. 0:00 Pasubio 0:18 Start of the climb to Passo Xomo 6:12 Scarubbi Road 1:17 Papa Refuge 2:36 Heroes' Road Info for organizing your tour: Start and finish: Montecchio Maggiore (130km) or Vicenza (100km) Length: 130km x 2200m elevation gain (from Montecchio Maggiore) Travel time: 6 hours (trained), otherwise 7-8 hours Recommended bike: gravel bike with 45/47mm tires, ideally 50mm with a smooth tread pattern Dirt road conditions: We found the dirt road on the Heroes' Road to be significantly worse between 1200m and 1500m above sea level; we recommend caution.
