4/6 - Fledglings R Us: Starlings, Tits, Woodpeckers, Crows, Jackdaws, Doves & Finches etc (BirdSong)

Episode 273: 4th June 2026 There have been lots of fledglings visiting over the last couple of weeks, including the starlings, blue tits, collard doves and jackdaws. I am hopeful for more of the same today... Tip for scanning the livestream for when the bird's visit: If you hover your cursor along the timeline of the livestream, it should show a small preview of what is happening. This can help you to spot the visits from the birds and busier times. I have also added a camera showing the birds that feed on the floor, as not all birds eat from the feeders. - This has now been moved onto a bird table. A lot of birds visit the floor to feed before I start filming, so I will be making a video of them and other off camera visits, without the gaps between visits, that there can be in the livestream, especially on quieter days. My apologies for the sometimes washed out colouring on the early morning livestreams. The sun is so bright, that it can be difficult to get a better picture. I will indicate when the colouring gets better in the timestamps. The birds have been unusually quiet since mid-April, especially the blue tits. Usually, blue tits make up the majority of our visitors but recently, they have not been around as much. I presume that they have started nesting, which they apparently do in March and April. You are still seeing some, but much fewer and generally either earlier or later in the day. So through the day, you will probably be mainly seeing greenfinches, goldfinches, robins, woodpeckers, starlings, sparrows, crows, blackbirds, collared doves and great tits, with more occasional visits from the blue tits.
