Traditional Irish Soda Bread (With a Secret Ingredient)

🍀 Traditional Irish Soda Bread with a Modern Twist! 🍀 In today’s video I’m making one of Ireland’s most famous breads – Irish Soda Bread – but with a little twist. Instead of using traditional buttermilk, I’m using kefir, which gives the bread a fantastic texture, a slight tang, and keeps it beautifully moist. There’s nothing quite like warm homemade soda bread fresh from the oven, slathered with Irish butter and enjoyed with a cup of tea. Simple ingredients, no yeast, and ready in under an hour! Let me know in the comments – do you prefer traditional buttermilk soda bread or would you give kefir a try? 🇮🇪 From my kitchen to yours, Fred’s Kitchen #IrishSodaBread #IrishFood #BreadRecipe #HomeBaking #IrishCooking #KefirBread #TraditionalIrishFood #Baking ⸻ Original Recipe 100g plain white flour 125g wholemeal flour ½ tsp salt ½ tsp bread soda (bicarbonate of soda) Approx. 225ml kefir or buttermilk Bake at 230°C / 450°F for 20-30 minutes ⸻ Family Size Recipe (Double Batch) Perfect for a larger family or if you want leftovers for toast the next day. 200g plain white flour 250g wholemeal flour 1 tsp salt 1 tsp bread soda (bicarbonate of soda) Approx. 450ml kefir or buttermilk Method 1.
