Under the intense desert sun, the Prophet delivered a historic sermon and, raising the hand of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS) high above the crowd, explicitly declared: "Whomever I am the leader (Mawla) of, this Ali is also his leader." For Shia Muslims, this divine proclamation officially established Imam Ali as the spiritual and political successor to the Prophet, marking the formal appointment of the first Imam. Referred to as Eid-ullah al-Akbar (The Greatest Eid), this day is celebrated as the pinnacle of completion for the Islamic faith. It is directly tied to the revelation of the Quran's final major verse (Surah Al-Ma'idah, 5:3), which states that the religion had finally been perfected and God's favor completed. Today, communities worldwide—including the vibrant processions from Kesar Baugh to the Mughal Masjid in Dongri—celebrate this festival with immense joy, poetry, and gatherings to renew their allegiance to the Wilayat (leadership) of Imam Ali.
